Der Springer
Bronze sculpture details
They say if you do not go forwards, you go backwards. It is time to risk a jump forwards, to free ourselves from our motionlessness, to break through the rigid structure of things. Even if not all the hurdles can be overcome, the objective is: energy and a will to succeed. My sculpture Der Springer (The Jumper) stands symbolically for this exertion of energy, coupled with movement and momentum. The lunging leg thus carries the main message and is to stand out from the rest of the figure’s body through its colour. I purposefully chose a neutral white patination to neutralize the body. The symbolism of the colours: red: power, materialistic thinking, assertiveness; blue: loyalty, emotional behaviour; yellow: intellectuality, the search for new paths.
Edition in bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chased and patinated by hand.
Jörg Bollin
Just like his father and grandfather, Jörg Bollin grew up with the tools and materials to become a stone sculptor. He finished his "traineeship" (Lehre) in 1963 at the Freiburger Münster, the year after he was crowned national champion in the youth sculptor's competition. In 1969, he got his masters of crafts. Then in 1974, he took over the masonry and sculpture workshop of his father.
