Everything is round, everything is curved: Demez’ “Dancing Girl” unites various round shapes and circles, and shows them in a dynamic dance step – he shows not only the dancer, he shows the dance itself.
Edition in bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chased and patinated by hand.
Ernest Demez comes from St. Ulrich in Val Gardena. This valley in the Italian Dolomites has been a major centre of traditional woodcarving for more than three hundred years. He was educated as an artist at the Art School of Wood Sculpture in Val Gardena, and what is more, worked here as a teacher himself for 27 years.
