Bronze sculpture details
Raschke’s works are often created as series and variations on a theme; individual studies whose structure and gesture are related. And so it is with her “Seated Figure 1”, which combines calm with the readiness to take action. She is turned towards the world and her posture shows that she could stand up and begin to move at any time.
Edition in bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chased and patinated by hand.
Like many fellow sculptors, the handicraft marked the beginning of Christiane Raschke’s artistic career. She completed an apprenticeship in ceramics and was already drawing attention in professional circles – she finished by winning first place nationally.
