With the permission of his family, we are able to present ‘Windweide’, another work from the estate of Kurtfritz Handels. It shows him from a new, unknown side as a precise observer of a landscape that was changing before his eyes for ecological reasons. On the one hand, his ‘Windweide’ is a pastoral idyll with grazing cows - a classic motif of landscape depiction for centuries - but on the other, it is also an unflinching look at the modern world of today, in which wind turbines also ‘graze’ in order to protect nature from further destruction.
