The goat is a highly respected animal in Mediterranean countries. Greek mythology also shows the animal great respect. Zeus was nursed by a goat whose horns flowed with nectar and ambrosia. According to Ovid, one of these horns broke and nymphs filled it with fruits, thus making it the cornucopia, the symbol of plenty.
Edition in bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chased and patinated by hand.
Hermann Schwahn was an extremely versatile artist who in his 50 years as a freelance artist has left an impressive selection of art behind. After studying at the Academy in Stuttgart, he settled in Göppingen Hohenstaufen.
