Those who think of cave paintings and the first human expressions of art, are not entirely wrong here. However, Häfner's "Aurochs" is not only a reference to the beginning of art history. Häfner cautiously gives it a third dimension and creates a sharp contrast to its art history examples, thus making it a figure, which can only be experienced in an unreal space of art without foreground and background.
