Udo Wintgens lives in Duisburg, the once coal-rich Ruhr area. The trained sculptor attended master school in the southern parts of Aschaffenburg, where he completed his master's exam in the stone carving craft. Subsequently after his masters exam he completed his training to become a certified restorer. He is active in both professions: As a sculptor, Wintgens works with bronze and stone and can look back on numerous exhibitions. As a sculptor and restorer, he shares his knowledge as a lecturer in the field of writing and design at the master school for sculptors at the Westfälischen Dombauhütte Sankt Maria zur Wiese Soest.
