Karl-Henning Seemann (1934 - 2023)
Seemann is considered one of the most important German sculptors of our day. The focal point of his sculptural work is art in public spaces, it mostly refers directly to its place of exhibition, often with a healthy dose of humour (such as "The Dispute" in Düsseldorf or the fountain sculpture "The Circuit of Money" in Aachen). Seemann's "Mother with Three Children in the Flood" was designed as a bridge sculptor. It is in the tradition of memorial sculpture and recalls the rescue work and help during the Dresden flood of August 2002.
