Klaus von Kreutziger (1941)
Klaus von Kreutzinger is an Austrian who can look back on an unusual life. As a young man, he was first a mechanical engineer, but while working in steam boiler engineering he was already pursuing his education as a musician. For more than three decades, he was solo cellist in the Radio Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra in Basel. In all these years, however, he was also fascinated with woodworking; von Kreutzinger built furniture he designed himself and provided it with elaborate inlays. This formative work with the material eventually provided the basis for his second artistic career: for nearly twenty years now, he has also been a sculptor working in wood and bronze.
