The crowning of the squad of Biblical figures is, for me, as for countless other people, Jesus of Nazareth – Christ is the consummator of the law and the Redeemer. His primary commandment is love, as his deed of redemption shows. His divine love for mankind, whose shape he took after all, found its expression in iconography in the “Sacred Heart”. My depiction shows Jesus Christ, offering his most holy heart, struck through by the lance. His pledge hand is the symbol of unbreakable loyalty. The head of Jesus is crowned twice. The Crown of Thorns and on top it, the crown of the King of Kings (Ernst Fuchs).
Edition in bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chased and patinated by hand.
Ernst Fuchs, who died in November 2015, always wanted to be a universal artist – and he consistently realised this desire throughout his life.
