Falconry was considered the most noble way to hunt in the Middle Ages. Emperors and kings enjoyed it, and Emperor Frederick II of the House of Hohenstaufen even wrote a book about it, De Arte Venandi cum Avibus ("The Art of Hunting with Birds").
