It is said that the first European to discover the flavour of pineapple was Christopher Columbus. When it made its long journey from the Caribbean to Europe, the perishable fruit was a luxury good of the highest order. It took some time before it became technically possible to grow it in local greenhouses and it initially remained so expensive and costly that it became fashionable in aristocratic gardens and was seen as a display of extreme wealth and extravagance.
This was only to change when steam shipping significantly accelerated imports. But even today, if you want to see them in your own garden, the only option is to grow them in an expensive greenhouse - or our oversized bronze specimen, which adds an unmistakable touch of exoticism to the garden.
Edition in bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chased and patinated by hand. Limited to 49 numbered and signed copies.
We present exclusive bronze art from the "Strassacker Studio" made by our modellers , cast with the same care and workmanship as the limited editions. However, they are not limited with a few exceptions and thus we can offer them at significantly lower prices.
