Tobias Eder (1966)
The Eders are a family of sculptors: Father Leonhard is a well-known artist and two of his sons ‑ the younger one, Matthias, and Tobias, the elder ‑ followed him after completing an apprenticeship in their father's workshop.
Tobias Eder's path took him to the academies of fine arts in Karlsruhe and Munich, where he finished his studies in 1995 as a student in the master class of Hans Ladner. Since then, he has sketched and implemented an impressive series of artworks and also taken up ecclesiastical art and biblical themes in the process. From 2004 to 2009, Eder supported the Archdiocese of Freiburg as a member of the Commission for Art and Culture ‑ convinced that the Christian message needs contemporary forms of expression.
