Sorina von Keyserling (1972)
Sorina von Keyserling depicts, she does not idealise. Her art is expressly realistic, and for just this reason she is highly sought after, especially as a portrait sculptor. Her artistic eye concentrates on the distinct effect of the individual undisguised by tradition or contemporary ideals of beauty. This perspective on the truthfulness of the body may come from her time as a dancer. Von Keyserling was active in the independent dance scene in Berlin and later kept up her connection to the city’s stages (as a guest student in the sculpture workshop of the German Opera, for instance, or as an employee of the Berlin theatre sculpture workshop). Since 2009 she has been working as a free-lance sculptor and had her first solo exhibitions as early as 2011, which have since been followed by regular presentations of her works.
