“The Kiss” is among Bruni’s most famous works. The artist contrasts the embracing couple not just through the different colouring, they also each stand for one of the forms of representation taught in classic sculpting. The smooth, delicately rounded female body stands in contrast to an altogether classical arrangement of folds in the man.
