The Roman Gaia, the African Konkomba, the South American Pachamama, the Indian Prithivi – all the world’s mythologies know the motif of the primordial mother. Often the origins of the world and nature are connected to highly revered female figures. Beth Newman-Maguire’s “Dancing Mother Earth”, which, covered by foliage, comes to life in an elegant dance exuding fertility, goes back to an archetypal myth – even though she knows how to give it a highly modern stylistic expression.
Unique in bronze, cast using the lost wax technique, chased and patinated by hand.
Beth Newman-Maguire is an Irishwoman who studied at the Dublin College of Art and Design and at the University of Ulster, where she acquired her Master of Fine Arts in 1998. Since then, she has been working with great success as a sculptor.
